Hazrat Usman Ghani (RA) was born in Makkah. His father's name was Afghan and his mother's name was Arwa. He belonged to the famous Banu-amiyyah branch of Quraysh. The lineage of you (may Allah be pleased with you) can be traced back to the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) in the fifth generation. Your grandmother, may Allah be pleased with you, was the paternal grandmother of Umm Hakeem bint Abdul Muttalib. So you took up the profession of commerce. Through his trust and knowledge, he progressed so much that he started to be counted among the wealthy people of Quraysh. When Hazrat Usman Ghani was young, he took up the profession of trade. After accepting Islam, his uncle used to tie him with ropes and beat him.
